Who are we?MECA is a non-profit, professional organization for those who are involved in teaching and learning about the world of education. Members share a common interest of understanding and participating in a variety of educational experiences. MECA, formally known as SEEC, was founded in 2009 and is a transformation of SEEC to be more reflective of the whole CTE Education General program under the 13.000 CIP code.

Our VisionOur vision is that we can move forward as a strong group that is helping to shape future education professionals, and the future of the educational system as a whole. We are working to do that through our collaborative network, shared resources, and professional learning.

Community Engagement BIO: Erin co-teaches the Future Educator Academy through Char-Em ISD. She is also the Instructional Tech Coordinator and REMC Director. Prior to this, Erin has taught secondary social studies and designed professional learning.

CATHY HENGESBAUGH
BIO: Cathy had 20 years teaching experience, all at Howell High School as the Education General teacher of both the Early Childhood and Teacher Cadet CTE Programs. Prior to that, she was an in- home State licensed Group Child Care provider for 13 years. Although now retired from Teaching, she is still active with MECA and is training to be a Teacher Cadet Curriculum Instructor. Certifications: Teacher Cadet (VG), Family Consumer Science (KH/VH), Psychology (CE), Teacher Cadet Certification: Wayne State University, CTE Certification: Western Michigan University Bachelors Degree: Family and Consumer Sciences, Secondary Teaching with Psychology Minor from Michigan State University Master's Degree: Teaching and Learning from Nova Southeastern University JULIE BARNES
BIO: Julie has been teaching at Lake Orion High School since 2003. She has taught both Business Education and the Future Educators Program. Prior to teaching, she worked in the business field with experience in Accounting and Human Resources. Julie is also a Teacher Cadet Curriculum Trainer for Michigan.
